Was reading about Grenache yesterday, so had to open one!
Pop and pour and initially just above cellar temp, this was mostly about joyous berry fruit, with only a little bit of spice, herb and earth in the background. A little bit warner and the savory elements took on more prominence, and the Old Hill-ness of the wine started to shine. That baked earth and brushy briary stuff came out more in the aromatics, and it was like standing there by the vineyard (which I have sadly not done since 1998).

15.1% abv. Medium ruby, very aromatic. Cherries, black cherries, blue fruit and white pepper. Well balanced and accessible now with upside over the next 4-8 years. Very enjoyable!

As an avowed Grenache skeptic, I am sad that I did not discover this wine sooner. Rich fruit with subtle spice, it was scary easy to drink, and two of us polished it off all too soon.

Of all the great historic wines made by Will at Old Hill, this Grenache may be the very best.

Young. Sweet. Fruity. There is depth but not developed yet. Need more time. But nice now
