ESTG Northern Rhône: Black pepper, funky, animal, reductive, finishes explosively with cherry and bright acid. Pleasing but very linear in comparison to the Ogier.

Berserker Offline (Mathilde Bistro - SF): Super gnarly brett upon first opening – was afraid this was going to be undrinkable by the time we got to dinner. Everyone seemed to think it was fine, and when I finally got around to it at the end of the night, the brett had magically subsided. Lovely texture, classic feral gamey notes, vibrant red cherry fruit with undertones of black plum. Excellent balance.
Whoa. Stinky feral animale on opening - sweaty saddle, musk, more big cats at the zoo than barnyard. Thankfully calms down to manageable levels after 2 hours in the decanter. Underneath, a mix of bold red and black fruit that duke it out (red fruit wins - pure crancherry fermata on the finish). So complex; feral base note, gamey/iron, vegetable ash, hoisin, leather, chalky minerals, mostly resolved tannins. Compared to the 2003, less acid (though still plenty), more body/extraction, and the complete package. A real winner.

Hazy reddish purple in color. Aromas of reddish black fruits, forest-floor, savory notes of iron, game, olives and spice. Medium to full bodied with tart reddish black fruits, savory brown spices, olives and a decent tart-briny and earth tinged finish. Far better than previous bottle.

(Eric Tex ier Cote Rotie Vieilles Vignes) Nose of Indian spices, bacon fat, blueberry, leather, subtle oak tones, sandalwood. Great nose. Jumps out at ya. Structured palate with fantastic purity and sweet fruit. Ripe tannins just extend on the long, layered finish. Very well made wine. I would say a 10 year wine but it is very flattering today.

My last bottle of a case, matched with Tenderloin of beef with Port reduction, was really good and classic Cote-Rotie. Wish I had more.
