  • Really struggling to come up with descriptors for this wine. First of all I had chilled it so it was very neutral on nose and palate on opening. But even after 45 minutes of air and rising to room temp, it is very pleasant, but just non-descript. Some citrus peel on the nose. I don’t get any white pepper. Some white flowers. I can see why this is often confused with Albariño and Pinot Gris. Also, saved this bottle for a veggie-intensive meal and it paired well, but I think other whites would have done as well - white Bordeaux, new-world Sauvignon Blanc. None of this is a criticism, just my initial foray into the world of Gruber. Beautiful on the palate and finish.
