  • Really cool aromas.. eucalyptus, pine wood, etc.. Drank along a Tor and Culler... This was a close second to the Tor

  • Recent auction purchase inspired by love of Napa cabs, CT and RP reviews and good price vis-à-vis wine searcher. Per CT notes and experiences with older cabs, no decant, but opened bottle about 75 minutes before first glass. Cork was soft but came out cleanly (broke second night). Rich and opulent nose redolent of violets and dark fruit. Vibrant red and black fruit on the front palate balanced by secondary notes of burnt coffee and loamy earth. Moderate on tannins, light on acidity. Great color, good legs. No sediment. Really great. 96

Second night: Starts out surprisingly disjointed, but 15-30 minutes in the glass integrates better, but both the fruit and secondary notes seem a bit faded. Still tasty to be sure, but less interesting. 91-92

If you asked me on night 1 of its longevity, I'd have said at least 5 years, but I'm less sure after night 2. I think that this wine can benefit from a short decant but is best consumed on the first night. With that thought in mind, if I could get another bottle at what I paid for this, about $75, I would.

  • Best bottle yet. Not tiring. Had at a restaurant and was a crowd pleaser with a demanding audience. Opened for 30-45 minutes with no decant......that was fine.

  • Superb - drank along side an '04 Opus, and table was divided on the fav...WCole was more traditional Napa (old school), with layers on the palate and an extended finish. Still vibrant, but probably near peak in terms of evolution. Valette steak paired well
