Smells like honey, safrron, iodine, dried apricots with a slightly stale pallor over it, a bit like an old passito smell. Fizz is vigorous, palate is bready, sourdough, lemon rind, pear, peculiar. I don't think these were ever intended to age for 25 years so I guess it's doing well considering that. Good but I wouldn't seek it out.

Grand Sichuan jeeb with Oswaldo (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): A nice way to start the evening; fresh citrus, pear and apple fruit accented with yeasty and savoury elements and turning more stony and minerally on the back end. Very youthful and lively with gentle effervescence but bright acidity and good length.

The minerality shows through the perceived flab on the palate of this wine with air. Large bottle variation. Interesting for geeks...not so much for the rest.
