I enjoyed this. Initially I thought this had a slight earthy pruney smell but that dissipated with some air. This also followed a 96 Barolo, so that may have been part of the reason.
Aged earthy aromas, darker fruit, maybe a hint of licorice. Pretty good and something I’d like to try again.

HK Wine Society Tasting & Dinner: Mature Brunello, 1975-1998 (Langham Palace Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong): Tasted blind in a line-up of 12. Translucent purple-red colour and clearly one of the youngsters. Nose of nail varnish, light and almost dilute, reticent. Palate is similarly light, dilute and feminine with raspberry fruits and a dry tannic finish of raspberry pips. Very mouth-drying on the finale although with some resonance. Too young.

I enjoyed this. Aged aromas and flavors, but still some darker toned fruit, and light tannin, too. Solid acidity. A good bottle.

Good, not great. Nice nose of spices and cherry. Pretty balanced wine at this time, seems to be about at it's peak.
