Popped and poured. Enticing golden yellow color. Nose is chock-full of all the things you could want in a great Cali chardonnay: honey, butter, bread, apples and more. An orchard and dairy in a bottle. Flavors deliver the same sensations but with a welcome acid backbone to keep everything in harmony and keep the wine from tending toward fatnesss or overextraction. Clearly Cali, but not over the top like so many others who deliver such overt ripe orchard fruit. 5-13-17-9: 94/100.

Quite lovely. Medium yellow, viscous. Enticing nose of tropical fruit and vanilla; screams Cali but that is OK, because this also shows restraint and is nowhere near fat or overblown, either on the nose or in the mouth. It is rare to find a nice ripe fruit wine like this to have such finely tuned acid backbone. Supremely balanced, and long, long finish. Martinelli continues to show mastery with this grape. 5-13-17-9: 94/100

This is like butter in a glass...buttered popcorn? Not to disparage it in any way...it is not overly oaky, just rich and luscious with herbal/piney nuances, but wow...the butter hit me first! Followed by toasted marshmallow on the nose. Interesting to see how it evolves over a few days.

This is a very good Chardonnay. A touch of sweetness without being buttery. A set of subtle tart notes in the background.
