  • 100% Palomino from Lopez Vineyard in the Cucamonga Valley.

Sulphur and raw eggs on the nose, which was not pleasant at all but thankfully blew off after an hour in the glass. It was replaced by tart green apple, ripe apricots, and roasted garlic - think of the smell garlic makes when it browns during cooking and you'll have a good idea. Things improve significantly on the palate with tart green apple, tart pear, lemon peel and a hint of candied fruit, almost like a jolly rancher. This is backed up by interesting non-fruit flavors - mint and spices (white pepper and coriander mostly.) Texturally sharp with lovely medium + intensity of both flavors and aromas.

Medium + body with medium acid...just a hint of alcohol burn but I'm okay with that. The palate is just so lovely here that it makes up for the shortcomings on the nose.

  • Super interesting nose. Complex. Yeasty. Lots of aromatics. Golden delicious apple with a bruised note (in a good way). Poached pears. Concentrated Orange juice background. Spice and salty minerals. Good acidity and funky texture. Creaminess. Long. Really interesting overall.

94+ (this is likely to improve with more age)
