(VALBUENA Vega Sicilia) Vega Sicilia Dear Friends, The last parcel to arrive today was a hefty one (in pedigree, not actual weight). Below are recent releases from the Vega Sicilia family at the lowest prices I can muster. Yes, you will find 2003's below but (unlike the Plague) these are more than worth your attention. I think people will be very surprised by the serious nature of the Valbuena, it's a top-tier effort all around. Didn’t like this as much as the previous bottle. Slight bricking but ink dark. A bit of spice and smoke on the nose. Full bodied with mild tannins (and lots of sediment). Still some dark fruit with hints of tertiary notes but the flavour was less intense than expected. Kept some in a half bottle for a few days - got a more expressive nose but also slight sour note.
