Woodsy aromas of raw meat, mushrooms, volcanic ash, and white pepper. Spicy notes of plum, earth, beef, and grilled peppers. Resolved tannins, good texture, but a little stodgy for me and not a wine I can drink a lot of.

Dark and opaque. Blueberry fruit with fennel, black licorice and maple bar. Big bodied, modern and almost unctuously sweet with no signs of being 15 years old. Well made for what it is, but it isn't my kind of wine.

Final of 4 bottles and this showed well. Leads with dark fruits and just a touch of savory spice tones; comes across as medium-weight in the mouth and fairly polished. Good length and enough structure to be held together, but guessing it's better to drink this year than to give much more time.

Nose: The nose has a rich dark red fruit core with dark red cherries, licorice, blueberries, blackberries, and dark spices.
Taste: Full bodied with silky tannins and medium acidity. The feel is plush and polished with blackberries, blueberries, dark red cherries, and some licorice.
Overall: This is definitely on the forward side, but it's plush and has a real yum factor. It's drinking extremely well right now and feels like it's in the zone.

Full-bodied Syrah with lots of red fruit and smooth finish. Each bottle has been a pleasure to drink.
