Color: Ruby. Bouquet: Cherry and black fruit nose with a whiff of mineral and cola. Palate: Raspberry, blackberry, black plum, currant, a touch of earthiness, and a slight mineral undercurrent. This wine, at about 9+ years of age, was more substantial than expected, probably due to the extreme heat in the Northwest including the Willamette Valley in 2006. The wine had smooth tannins, nice acidity, and a medium long finish. – Very lightly chilled, it paired nicely with grilled chicken quarters; steamed and buttered carrot medallions; rice with chicken jus gravy; and a wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with chopped tomato, crumbled bacon, and blue cheese dressing; followed by a dessert of fresh whole Bing cherries and Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares filled with caramel and sea salt.

Disappointing at first, with a thin mid palate, but after an hour filled out a bit, quite primary fruit, dark cherries with a hint of cola, pleasant drinking but no more than that

Popped and poured. Paired with salmon and squab. Nose had notes of sour cherries and raspberries that had been roasted over an open fire. More red fruits on the palate. Medium length finish. Missing the earthy funkiness that I love, but was a very nice wine. Would purchase again.
