Better with an hour of air. Lots of cherries (tart, red, black, dry), blackberry, cassis, new leather, smoke, earth, graphite, old wood on the nose. Tart cherry, black cherry, blackberry, plum, spice, vanilla, herbs, and earth on the palate. Some spicy heat. Good acidity, grippy tannins, long finish. This is a big bruiser of a wine with lots of fruit, oak, and alcohol. I find the warmth distracting, but despite that it does make you want to take another sip.

Excellent wine, still young and vibrant. Color was still solid, with almost no bricking, and the nose has a few secondary traits, but still a lot of fruit and depth. Sadly, my last bottle. Great 15 year old Napa wine.

Decanted 1 hour prior to serving. On the nose loads of dark fruit, leather, cigar box, volcanic rock notes. Really pleasant on the nose. On the palate this Bordeaux blend is incredibly complex - layers upon layers of dark fruit, hints of vanilla, and nothing but rich smoothness that just coats your palate and leaves you smiling. Wow you wonder - this is really good. Long finish that makes you savor this wine.
It was my first time trying Dancing Hares - and 2004 happened to be their first vintage. They knocked it out of the park with this. Today this is a 14 year old wine - but it feels like it has the stuff to age for 30 years easily. In a great place right now, drink up, it will really reward you.
This is an excellent example of aged high quality Bordeaux blend from Napa. Put this up against any other 14 year old wine and I guarantee you Dancing Hares will beat them. Excellent wine!

Opened 2 hours prior to drinking. Aromas of dusty berry, plum, blackberry and currant. Flavors of blackberry, plum, currant, black cherry and touch of cocoa. Ends with a great 40 second finish echoing the primary themes. Thought this might be nearing the end of its drinking window but still tasting young, fresh and touch snow of fruit. Very impressed.
