  • Initially a bit lean, so I thought this must be from ‘01 vintage. But this continued to improve over the 3 hours dinner, adding weight and complexity with good mouthfeel. WOTN for me. Over the last 2 months, I have tasted ‘93, ‘02, ‘03, and ‘09 of this Cuvée on separate occasions. ‘02 and ‘09 were equal currently while ‘09 had potential to be just as good as ‘93 one day.

  • Burgundy at least 20 years old: Very interesting to drink the 2002 and 2003 blind next to each other with the only hint given that these were consecutive vintages. I clearly liked the 2003 better in the beginning as it was showing better concentration and depth, without showing any of the overripe or burned characteristics one can often find in 2003. The 2002 was elegant but seemed a bit more diluted. Was hence thinking this must be a cooler and wetter late 90s vintage. While the 02 did not move much with more air in my eyes, the 03 seemed to pick up some of those very dark notes from the hot summer, but perhaps it was just knowing what was in the glass after the wines were revealed.

  • Drank side by side with the 03. this was quite reserved at first and the 03 outshone it at first. however, it really unfurled after 90mim. amazing. a great burg

  • Dinner with Singapore CT friends: Tasted together with the ‘03, was revealed to be a pair of adjacent vintages from the same producer and plot. Had this before but that bottle wasn’t as pristine as this. Lovely restrained dark fruit, slight coffee note, seamless and structured at the same time. Unlike the others I preferred this to the ‘03 from the start for its understated manner. Became more expressive with air and was the unanimous WOTN. Unlike the 1999 from a couple of weeks ago which was tight still, this is ready for primetime.

  • CT dinner at Imperial Grand. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru.
4th time trying this . Previously bottles have been better.
Appearance fine sediments, pale intensity, ruby colour going garnet. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of cool stony minerality, forest floor earth, sous bois, dark red cherries, ?hint of rusticity. Developed.
On the palate, dry, softened high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour with flavours of dark red plum, lovely red berries and black cherries, sweet spices. Long finish.
Very good quality. Good but the previous experiences of this were even better.
