Pablo brought to SAF at Old Fabio's. Amoung my WOTN. Nice acidity and balance. Medium bodied+. Blind, i had no aromatic clue it was Rioja. Presumably, this bottling uses no or less Am Oak. This is the 2nd LAN i have enjoyed in the last few days.

Popped and waited 20 minutes to write this note. Aromas of leather, cherry, earth, funk and hint of matchstick. Flavors of cherry, raspberry, earth, balsamic, and tar. Ends with a 30-35 second finish with cherry and balsamic notes. Opening up quite nicely and aged quite well. A long life ahead for this.

Starting with the just enormous bottle, this is a Big Big wine. Opened about 20 minutes before drinking with a grilled NY Strip. Big rich, lush dark fruit. just washes over the palate, maybe some plums. This wine is super well made in a stye that I used to love. I will say that now it is a little too much for me. It is not flabby, it is just all up in your face. I think it is still drinking well, though it would probably be wise to not sit on it too much longer.
I think this wine would be enjoyable just sipping it more than with food. Well made and succeeds at what it tries to do, but not a wine for everybody to be sure.
Not sure how to grade it so i won't. 13 years ago when i bought it it would be a 95 to my palate... now from a flavor profile, somewhat less. Though very well made... YMMV

Going flat, not my favorite experience in the world. Drink up. Also, watch the sediment on the tail.
