goes back to 1452. not a co-op. rather the vineyards are owned by the city of krems and proceeds go to the local hospital. I guess this estate is most like the Packers. Fritz Meisbauer winemaker, came from Domaine Wachau Krems is a compressed region. low diurnal swings. 1/2 stony terraced wachau-type soil. 1/2 sandy warm soils. Krems - green fruit, Kamptal - yellow fruit. upper danube is cool climate.

Kind of muted on the nose. A bit of red apple peel. Has a fat mouthfeel that is a bit waxy. The fruit is a touch bitter. I think this is too warm to evaluate properly.

Fleshy, richer, more rich than I expected it to be, or remember it being. But not in a bad way at all. Rather delicious and easy going, perfect at $16 -- desirable.

next to 09 hiedler loess and 09 nigl freiheit. in the set the nose shows some age. a volcanic grape aromas lift. much more stony in the nose now. arugula. rather ashen in the nose. an aged grapey sheen. doesn't quite display the green spice/prickle of the other two. white pepper express towards the finish, but the fresher gruners in the bunch are winning out tonight.
