Superb wine. Much benefit from a multi hour decant, which integrates the alcohol and brings the fruit out. Savory, rich but balanced. Long finish. My first taste of the 07 yet will not wait too long to open our remaining bottles.

What can I say - just outstanding! Did a quick decant and poured it right back in the bottle and corked it. Consumed at a restaurant 8 hours later. Powerful yet smooth. Reminded me me of a well aged, good vintage Pichon Lalande. It would difficult to find a better bottle of wine...

From 1.5L. Still youthful. Delicious out of the gate and decanting several hours had not effect. Uncertain about its development forward from this point but would guess many more years of youthful energy.

Opened a bottle for Hazel's 1st; initially tannins were really hard; all sorts of smells, including lighter berries and lead shavings, some sort of sweaty minerality to it; needs some time to settle down.
Last bottle, a magnum, of this vintage. It has held up well for all these years, evolving in the glass from Grenache dominated to a more balanced, integrated blend of the Rhone varietals. This bottle relates back to when my friend Curtis introduced me to the Saxum vineyard. It was the Wine Spectator wine of the year for its vintage. The original plan was to drink it with Curtis at a family gathering. Alas, that didn't happen as he died a year ago. So, it received a celebratory toast in his honor from Penny and Phil.
