Dark fruit (plum and cassis), earth, a little barnyard funk, a pleasant hint of CF pyrazines on finish. Not just held up well, offering some complexity and has room to go. B+/A-

This is still surprisingly youthful with primary fruit and tannic structure. Very earthy, forest floor and some funk mixed with big dark berries. No sign of fading. Great value.

Wow - the best guion I've had - guess it takes 10 yrs for this to really come together. And tastes young - what an insane bargain - it's just delicious - no formal note but inky black, raspberry and blueberry on the nose with some nice wildness and funk (loved it) - great acidic thrust and a decent amount of tannins that opened up beautifully. Very impressive showing.

Opens to a good deal of funk on the nose which tames with air. On the palate, red and blue fruit, herbs and green pepper, lots of earth, and some minerality. Approachable but grippy, plentiful tannin, and good deal of acid. Even better with an hour or two of air. Very nice wine. Sadly, not a very long finish, with a bit of bitterness, but that's a minor gripe for an unbelievable value ($8 at auction? WHAT?). Drinking nicely, but no hurry as there is plenty of structure to hold for several more years.

(Domaine Guion Bourgueil "Cuvee Prestige") This is such a devastating value. Deep, purple color with lovely earthy, swampy, mossy aromas and some dark berry fruit. Lovely, deep and pure aromas. Rich and grippy but still light on its feet with ripe and juicy tannins, great acidity and an uncanny freshness. This estate has been organic since 1965 which is amazing to think about considering in 1965 pesticides, herbicides and fungicides were all the rage. I have one more bottle left which I will hold on to for maybe five more years.
(Domaine Guion Bourgeuil Cuvee Prestige) Lovely nose of blackberries, wild berry fruit, mineral, earth and mashed violets. The palate has a rustic charm with burly tannins and wonderful purity of fruit. Really deep wine that cuts a swath across the palate. Intense, rustic and honest wines that is in the same school as the lovely Marcillac's of Domaine du Cros or the lovely wines of Clos Roche Blanche. It will drink well over the next three or four years then, according to Guion, should be forgotten about for ten years, then re-emerge. A wonderful new discovery.

Wow, very nice aged Cabernet Franc. What a nice pull from the ‘cellar’, and a great value. Yum.
