Subsequent notes on this wine from close to 7 years ago. Deep, dark garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & plums with overtones of floral notes of violets & earthy/dusty notes, tobacco, leather, spices, cocoa/coffee, minerals, tar & a hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blueberries & pomegranate with spices, herbs, dark cocoa, tar, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but at 19 years of age, it is close to or at its peak of development although it should hold here for a few additional years. Fill was in lower neck; cork was clean & intact.

Brunello 2004 Horisontal (My House): Boiled cabbage and boring. Clearly a defective bottle.

A year and a half since the last bottle and it measures up. An outstanding Brunello with a rich profile (same as previously described).
