Dinner at Jims - An open that bottle night: Big really ripe wine, touch of port aldehydes, overall lovely and very ready to be consumed if not just slightly last its best. This is a big complex Cabernet blend, lush and fat, a feather pillow of a wine. The alcohol is not apparent, but it is there. The flavors are also amorphous, enjoyable but difficult to parse.

All dark fruits on the nose: blackberry and black current, boysenberry, black cherry. Notes of coffee, bramble, black licorice. Fairly imposing tannins on the palate, and a little bit of heat, but the blunt flavor profile isn’t unattractive. Very nice wine, at peak for the next few years.

The cork was like butter and had to use a Ah-so to get it out cleanly, which had me worried. Once pulled, the nose seemed a bit off but the taste was right there. After about 20 minutes the nose was lush blackberries and the palate was smooth. Overall, happy with the wine but I do believe the cork had some affect, although very minimal. Actually surprised to see how good this was considering.
