My last bottle and possibly the best. Extremely polished and elegant. Fruit is almost gone. Did not decant. This wine is beautiful and definitely at peak.

Good wine at its peak or maybe even past peak. Fruit is gone, alcohol is gone, could not taste something interesting. Quite frankly the wine was elegant but definitely not interesting. I think I prefer younger wines since they seem to offer a little bit more flavor. The wine is fine, but not something incredible or to die for. I would not hold on to this bottle any longer, the wine is definitely ready to go unless you want zero fruit and zero alcohol in a couple of years

This time let it breathe for 2 hours before drinking. Consistent notes on the nose, except some additional earthy/farmyard nuances. But in mouth it's definitely benefited from the additional age and the decanting - much smoother, less tannic and well rounded, while maintaining the previously noted grip, power and density.

In Bangkok. Classic Bordeaux nose. Palate opened up after an hour or so of air, Medium weight but all the better for it - lots of soil & plummy goodness. Absolutely delicious. Still some tail end tannins. Another 1998 right-bank legend.

Popped and poured. Deep ruby colour, just beginning to brick around the edges. The nose ooses red fruit: cassis, raspberries and redcurrant; eucalyptus/cedar notes. Good grip in the mouth, power and density, slightly too tannic, (as are other Clemences from the 90's I've tasted), but Merlot softens into the long finish. Maybe leave a further year or two and decant.
