Unbelievable. This wine holds up after all these years and shows fantastic. Leather, spices, fine grained tannins, mushrooms, truffle, moss and forest floor, dirt, earth, gravel and dried meat. Flowers, dried and preserved. Fantastic intensity of flavour. Nose is all over the place. Palate is never ending. Can’t get enough of this wine.

Mature, with red berries, leather and sottobosco. With time a hint of bonfire. Slender in the mouth with firm acidity. Melted tannins. Very fine. I don't believe this is to keep for much longer though.

My first encounter with Roagna. This was a very nice wine, not really tired but based on this bottle past its peak (only by a few years I'd say). Delicate nose with was getting more intense and focused with air: light cherry and vanilla with earthy notes. Med body, high acidity, again nice cherry and rose notes. Just like the nose it was getting better with air before falling. Finish was a little short. Nevertheless, a very enjoyable and interesting wine.

Piedmont Night (Eleven Madison Park): Probably the wine of the night today in terms of catching it at exactly the right moment, the structure and material in perfect balance. Rich and intense, but supple.

Uncorked 10 hours prior to serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Pale garnet with ruby core. Bright colours.
Mature fruits of preserved red cherry and prunes. Woody smoke. Animale and undergrowth notes.
Great integration and a complete wine right from the beginning. Seaweed like minerality. Fine spices. Very suave tannins.
93-94 points.
12 hours upon opening: Even more mushroom, liquorice, hints of coffee beans. Very well integrated. More 94 points now.
