In the beginning very closed, oaky, cedar dominance. Bottled opened 3 hrs before. Later after decanting more velvet, smooth and very fruity wine. Red summer fruits. Lively wine, very good price- quality ratio. Criticism is short aftertaste. Can stay at this level for many years. But why should you?

Bought EP for about £15. This is a clear mid garnet; the nose opened quickly to cedar and blackcurrant; in the mouth there is little tannin, gentle acid and more blackcurrant and cedar. This is lovely old style bordeaux, glad I bought it, sad I misjudged the vintage and drank it too early. **** or around 93 points.

Typical Pauillac aromas of blackcurrant and cigar box, plus some red cherry and herbs. In the mouth, typical Batailley, so well-rounded blackcurrant but also red fruits, but with more substance than the 2006 for example. In fact it's still slightly tannic and could improve further. Having had the 09 a few months ago, I prefer this one's fresher, crisper style. The CT window is a bit early - this has got at least ten years left, probably a lot more.

This wine pours medium ruby with the faintest bricking at the rim. The nose is classic Bordeaux featuring dark cherry, black currant, tobacco, tomato leaf, celery seed, leather, charcoal, and cedar shavings. The palate is lovely showing dark cherry, and black currant on entry turning to medium tannin and medium plus acidity. The texture of the tannin is just a tad coarse and astringent, but I think further age will likely assist. With air time the fruit came to bear and overcame much of the astringency of the palate. The finish features modest length, but quite an enjoyable profile replaying most of what is shown on the nose. In it's early stage of maturity, this will have many good years ahead of it, but I don't expect a lot of further improvement. Just a move to a more and more mature profile. This should age gracefully.

Terreux et sur le tertiaire surtout.
Feuilles mortes et cuir avec une
finale courte et fluide.
J'ai pas aimé.
