Purchased on release, this wine had a red/purple center and light red rims that showed the slightest hint of orange. The medium+ intensity nose exuded black cherries, rhubarb, minerals, and cola.
This was fruity but a bit disjointed when first poured. After 4 hours of air, this wine show rich fruit that was balanced by crisp acidity and light tannin. The finish was quite long but a lot of it was engendered by the acidity rather than the fruit.
Frankly, this wine still seems quite young. It is attractive now but not quite where it should be. Will it get there? I don't think anyone can say for sure. However, if the brisk acidity becomes more integrated this wine has upside.

Color surprisingly dark, I was even concerned as at the core it looked a little black, like the wine was roasted. Definitely odd. But first whiff cast aside any worries. Big nose of flowers, plum and red berry. Really a wow nose. Palate brings on more of the fruit, and yet here it feels darker, more black fruit than red. Flavor lingers. Didn't expect this wine to have aged so well. If I can pick any fault at all I do get bit of a darker, roasted something in mid palate, although very minor. Maybe that's the color getting in my head! Note from later: That note was written right after pouring. Wine lightened up considerably after an hour in the glass. Definitely improved, 94-95 and many years left.

had a glass of this last night , think it was nice for a 14 year old cali pinot , the pinot fruit was not dominent but was there slightly , small pungent thing going on , well bred , nice wine , something special , not great but good .

Nose scared me a little as there's heat there, but wow as it sat in the glass the currant dark fruit intensity began to come through. And this wine began to rip after sitting open for a half hour or so. My wife laughed when I called it a soft baseball glove. But that was the palate, so soft... I'm more of a burgundy than CA Pinot lover and this is CA all the way, but SO different. No sign of aging. Young. 10 years left easy. I'm surprised others have said its old. Maybe I got a lucky bottle but I see this as just easing into its prime.
