Ramps and Riesling Fest (Washington, DC): The nose has a tangy, stony appeal to accent the deeper, sugar cane-encrusted tones. Fun and plush on the palate, with balanced sugar and acidity, and it goes down so easily.

Glass: Zalto Universal. Popped and poured. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose with some petrol, vanilla crescent and lots of crushed stones. Dense and beautiful. On the palate off-dry, racy and well integrated acidity, low 10,5% abv. Vanilla, petrol, yellow stone fruit, ripe citrus, mineral notes. Pressure and grip, good substance and balance. Very joyful and delicious to drink. Medium+ finish. Even Egon Müller’s entry level wine demands storage time of at least 10 years and this bottle would have another decade ahead. Relly good. 89-90

#01-09, 10.5% abv. Clean, bright, and fresh. A very Saar-like expression (I seriously don't know what that means, except it tastes like it's from the Saar) of minerality and fruit here. This is both slightly tart and sweet and it's nicely balanced between the two. Not necessarily a profound bottle of riesling, but one that is honest and true to everything on the label.

Riesling night at HaiSous (Chicago, IL): #01-09, 10.5% abv. This wine always overdelivers at the QbA level. There's a little touch of reduction or sponti or what have you on the nose, but this is mostly a story of crystalline white fruit and acidity. Bright and cheerful and bursting with energy right now. Certainly I would be willing to age these, but really, they're drinking amazingly well.

An excellent QbA, though perhaps not the best QPR. Nice minerality, not particularly sweet. Purchased to cellar for some time.
