Crystalline cherry straight away on the nose, alongside balsamic. Also some of a dusty character that I get in Sangiovese. It’s almost like a cherry boiled sweet. This is not a criticism, simply a description of the crystalline nature. After air, unlit tobacco and sun dried tomato. Outstandingly complex nose. Quote rich on the palette, almost like I associate with some Rioja. Juicy cherry following to the savoury balsamic on the mid pallete and finish.
Stood up for two weeks. Ullage in the neck. Cork in pristine condition. Decanted for two and a half hours. A deep ruby core fading to a pale ruby outer edge. Black cherry, aged balsamic, dried violets, a touch of campfire smoke, stewed tomatoes, and black shoe polish reveal themselves on the nose. Texturally silken, concentrated, and structured - the palate is more about balance and harmony than it is individual profiles.

A visit to Castello Banfi: Mesmerizing nose with tertiary aromas, deep and focused, in the mouth savory, lean, surprised to see so much energy with 25+y in a bottle, mid weighted, a little bit drying on the finish, but great experience nevertheless.

Complex; distinct minerality especially iron. Mature fruit, plums. Silky finish.
