Pristine bottle, with a cork in excellent condition. Light in color. The nose has earthy, smoky and spicy aromas. Quite xomplex. Palate is elegant but rather aromatically intense. Quite long and balanced finish.

The loose cork falling in the bottle necessitated a double decant approx an hour before drinking. Quite an evolved brown colour. Bright with classic notes of orange peel, some spice and quite a bright acidic lift. Not in pristine condition, but still very enjoyable, and very much a sip of history. Holds well over 90 minutes, but certainly doesn't grow in the glass. ***

Old Rioja - A Walkabout Tasting (Roberson Wine): Clear and bright. Some smokiness on the nose with sweet fruit. Light with good fruit.
