Election night bottle. Better the second night, softened a little of the bitterness from night one. Or maybe that was the election. Great nose, long finish, not hedonistic. Probably five years or so in the prime drinking window in my opinion but we aren't huge fans of killing a wine with age.

Decanted and served with beef brisket. Delicious and interesting expression of St. Helena single-vineyard fruit. Medium-plus body, blueberry liqueur, crushed rock, wet earth although not the smoky charred earth sometimes found in St. Helena Cabernet. Not a hedonistic wine but worth trying for the pure expression of terroir if you have a chance. At peak, not going anywhere any time soon.

Deep, placid, beautiful red in color. Delicious potpourri with a touch of cinnamon on the slightly spicy nose. Intense notes of milk chocolate and blueberry pie on the front palette that transitions to blackberry tannins and cocoa through the finish. Really delicious with at least two layers of flavor.

Napa with friends; 8/15/2019-8/18/2019 (Napa, CA): From magnum. Starting to enter it drinking window and nicely pulled together. Darker red fruits and spice, some earth and dried leaves but there is still acidity here, long finish. Clearly a new world wine, but not over done.

Deep garnet. Game, funk and spices on the nose. Add saddle leather and plum on the palate. Mature and good to go. Flirting with perfection.
