I wanted to like this. We tasted this at the winery and purchased the bottle there. It was a bit cold (55) when served but warmed quickly. The flavors were muted from the cold. Eventually some grapefruit, honeysuckle and guava tried to show. The assertive acidity never really let any of them shine. It ended up being a one-note, very crisp SB. Not worth $18. Maybe $8.

I didnt make notes in a tasting, but here is what I remember.
This struck me as an unusual SB; it was gorgeous and aromatic, but mostly with the pear, white flower, and tropical fruit. Lots of tropical fruit and tree fruit. It lacked typical herbaceousness. Juicy acidity and great balance, though. ( I think I'm weighing this against NZ SBs)
note to me: Charles Krug wines are from Napa and Carneros

From the website: Our signature style Sauvignon Blanc preserves the vibrant flavors of the grape from the night it was harvested through the time a bottle is opened. This harvest yielded fruit forward tropical notes of banana, pineapple and accents of lemon-lime. Pear nectar nuances and hints of peach skin ensure a smooth, balanced finish. 2009 started as an ideal growing season but overall rainfall was still below average. Summer weather held mild and steady. October brought a pair of strong storms that dumped enough rain to worry growers. The white fruit, picked before the storms, had bright acid and great flavor concentration. In spite of October's surprise weather that required fast and furious picking of reds, all signs point to an excellent vintage.

Dave's fave! Crisp, light, grapefruit, nice fruit, mild acidy... Perfect on a warm day, or with roasted chicken

Crisp clean pineapple, pear and honeysuckle. Nice acidity on the back end. Very light. I felt it's a solid wine and scored it a B+
