  Très chenin finalement! Rhubarbe, coing, épices, pointe de citron confit et de truffe, salin, le nez reste assez discret, en nuances, mais le vin se révèlait sur le repas, le peps de la finale que je ressentais avantageusement (pas tous à table partageaient cette impression) effaçait la petite douceur de l'attaque (2/3g?). Sur la sole aux champignons, il gagnait en mordant et ne désunissait pas.

  My final bottle of a wine that has always been close to my heart. 2008 Chidaine were great on release, and this wine held on nicely for about decade but I started to see some fade in the wine, most definitely in the bottle I opened 8 weeks ago and poured blind for our wine group's Zoom. Last night, I took my final bottle to dinner and right away when the waiter opened it, this was shining like the bottles did several years ago. Bright, fresh, very little color fade (unlike the bottle 8 weeks ago that was starting to go gold in color). So, what's so marvelous about this final bottle? First off, the texture. Lime pith, honeyed golden yellow apple, peach, and the same flint that was in the bottle 8 weeks ago. The balance here is spot on good, and it retains tension and the flinty minerality to give me pause, to remember fondly how damn good this wine has been to me so many times over the years. Finishes with a kick of bitter lime pith and energy that tells me that this bottle would have gone another 5 years, maybe more? I will always love this wine and I'm glad that it showed me once more how good some of the older Chdianes still can be. Farewell my friend.

  I had two of these left and three years since I opened one, decided to check in. The bottle was opened yesterday, retasting from the last remaining few ounces left overnight under open cork. The color is softening on this, picking up some light gold touches but no oxidation. Still has the tell-tale Chenin nose, with a yellow apple, pear, nectarine and mildly spicy palate, along with some remaining flint in the finish. As I remarked in some of my earlier notes, I think this wine was showing best in 2017, with some fade in 2018, and while it is holding on, the original attraction of intensity and depth has begun to leave the wine. For my remaining bottle, I want to honor what is remaining in the wine and will drink it before the end of 2021. Remains delicious but advise drinking these sooner than later to catch the balance that is hanging on.

  Beautiful and crisp. Evolved but still fresh. In my taste hasn’t peaked yet. Classic dry Chenin with white peaches, beeswax, and wool. Long, fresh finish and probably enjoyable for a few more years.
