(Domaine San de Guilhem Vin de Pays des Côtes de Gascogne, Southwest France) This crisp, clean white is made in made in the same region that encompasses Armagnac. It's a blend of 40% Colombard, 30% Ugni Blanc, and 30% Gros Manseng, which was brought in from the neighboring Jurançon to add some oomph to the fairly neutral local varieties. The wines of Gascogne are wonderful in their simplicity, and this San de Guilhem is no exception. It shows off pleasant aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and minerals, with a clean and refreshing attack on the palate. Hot Picks
