Beautiful nose of mushroom and light strawberry. On the palate, black cherry, currant, and notes of lemon peel, cedar, and blackberry, with no detectable tannins and moderate to strong acidity on the long finish. This is outstanding, but based on the lack of tannin it's nearing the end of its drinking window; it's time to drink these. I only have a few bottles of Karl Lawrence left, and I bid them a fond farewell as I finish them off. They were an excellent value: Ave atque vale.

Decanted 2 hours. Very aromatic. Still very fruit forward with black fruit, black cherry, cassis, anise, earth and leather aromas and flavors. Wonderful mouthfeel. Incredible balance. The tannins are beautifully integrated into the long finish. Really good now, still could improve but in a really good place now.

Served blind. 10-15 yo Napa blend, I thought more merlot at first. With a 3 hour decant this is absolutely gorgeous with no end in sight. Deep purple with a hint of age at the rim Ripe rich dark currant and concord fruit Fine tannins, fabulous balance Really worth a peek. But in no danger of holding.

Needs a 60 - 90 minute decant to reach its potential. Given time the wine releases a flavorful nose of dense black cherry with an earthy tone. Smooth and silky on the mouthfeel the wine glides into a full-bodied blackberry on the palate. Resolved tannins have this wine in a beautiful place right now. The long chewy finish makes this a fabulous meal wine. Big and beautiful on its own, this wine is a true joy paired with a hearty meal of medium rare filet mignon, roasted garlic, sweet potato and avocado drawing flavors out from all sides. Great today and really coming into its own at 13 years, there is no reason to think these won’t stay robust for at least another 10 years.

No formal notes, but stunned how youthful this was. Very nice wine, has years left of cellared well.
