Dark plum, cherry, leather, tobacco and spice. Tannins have mellowed and you are left with a beautifully balanced and rich wine. Perfect with steak and truffle risotto. Patience has definitely been rewarded!

Initially volatile aromas disappeared after an hour or so, the colour grew from aged red orange at rim. This wine clearly need to breathe for a long time. Fresh acidity and rich velvety smooth fruit. Lots of spice and saddle leather with dark bramble fruit. Drank this over a few days under vacu-vin stopper. Overall still alive, drinkable and enjoyable.

Wow! Heavy crust, but pours clear. Graphite and slate, wrapped around blackberry fruit on the nose. Dark berries and damson plums on the palate. No need to wait, but no need to hurry with this one.

Drank on the same night as a 1994 Turkey flat . The Kalimantan was good but fruit had dried out a bit, improved a little if time. A pleasant drink but not fantastic

Last bottle, 25 years old, consistent with my previous notes, but (as expected) less fruit and more tertiary flavours. This is fully developed, not over the hill, but drink soon. Drank alongside the remainder of a 1998 St Henri opened the previous night - quite a contrast, the Henri felt about half the age!
