The négoce label of Domaine de Montille, we had a one off bottle of this lying in the cooler and I thought it'd be fun to open up and try before dinner on Thursday night. The nose was quite reductive, balancing out some herbal smokiness with a light peach note. The palate lacked acidity, but was extremely clean, boasting an upfront of lime zest and lemon rind before the mid-palate brought in apricot and flintiness. The finish was perhaps the most alluring part of the bottle as iron and light honeysuckle came together to create some strength on the backend.

Dinner at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): Drinking very well, this is a textbook 2009 in my mind. The ripe fruit shows prominently but there's still a fair bit of acid and some chewy minerality to give this wine a better overall balance. Again the peripheral terroir yields a less concentrated and complex wine, but otherwise this drinks quite well for what it is.

Still drinking Beautifully! The color is still bright pale straw, with almost a hint of green life in it. A welcome Burgundy mineral presence on the nose along with 2009 ripeness of fruit and a swift whiff of some old and exquisitely used tight-grained French oak casks. Great path for this very well balanced wine... Dare I say perfect place for it now in 2016. Too good to only have one bottle left.

Clear straw coloration, nose pretty typical except for a strange but not unpleasant aroma I would best describe as chicken broth, lemony acidity on the palate without any sign of oak, a bit thin and simple for the price.
