(Château Carbonnieux Blanc, Graves) Almost overlooked in the great 2005 Bordeaux vintage are the beautiful white wines. This Carbonnieux proves that oak and Sauvignon Blanc can be happy bedfellows. Its nose is a fascinating combination of Meyer lemon with hints of yeast, minerality, and rich oak. The best white Graves can age nearly as long as their red counterparts, as this wine will demonstrate. Hot Picks

Gelbe Früchte, zwischen trocken und halbtrocken subjektiv. Muss vor etwa fünf bis zehn Jahren ein wirklich guter Wein gewesen sein. Jetzt jedoch im Spätherbst seines Lebens. Noch trinkbar, wirkt jedoch eher etwas müde. Ebay Schnäppchen für 10,60 € pro Flasche.

Great bottle, perfect cork.
Pale yellow colour, no sign of oxidation.
Fresh fragrant nose, crushed dried herb Sauvignon notes, lemon zest.
Lemon sherbet, orange rind, and strong crushed herbal spice, a very youthful impression, but very nicely balanced. Long finish, clean acidity, refreshing and with great flavour intensity. Drinking beautifully.

Consumed late 2020 & early 2021. Admittedly waited longer than I should have. The 2005 Carbonnieux Semillon-Sauvignon blanc had lost some of its structure and complexity. It was less flavorful than it would have been in 2015 but ended up being a pleasant simple white wine and we drank all 6 bottles

Smell slightly oxidized but does blow off after awhile. Nice acidity, stone fruit, grassiness and spice. Don’t know how much longer this will hold so drink up.
