Super stinky nose on opening that overwhelms everything else. After an hour or so in the decanter, the merde smell blends in with the sous bois, tobacco leaf, sweet spices and strawberry. The overall impression is evolved and savoury, with a slight fruit sweetness at the end.
In the palate, there’s more sweetness, like strawberries stewed in sweet balsamic. A touch of soy and asian spices, black tea and sous bois on the mid palate. Drying tea tannins hit on the back palate and introduce a touch of bitterness which is slightly obtrusive.
It’s certainly old school burgundy, and I really like the contrasts and complexity. The bitterness towards the end, mars the overall experience slightly. But despite that a really enjoyable wine ready to go.

Much better showing than my prior bottle, this doesn't seem to be overwhelmed with oak, at all. Eucalyptus, dried herbs and ripe red cherry on the nose, palate has sweet red berries, softer profile, fully integrated, which makes me pretty sure these are about at peak now, as you can start to sense the fruit drying up a bit on this wine. Long finish, nice acidity, but at or near prime, to me

Significantly better than a bottle tasted a few months ago, with notes of sous bois, sautéed mushrooms, red berries; very balanced and soft on the palate, with good depth and a pleasant finish.

Oak is still prominent, but I can tell the wine is starting to gain some weight and silkiness on the palate, as the acid is all on the backside, keeping it bright and lively, yet the wine has some weight to it. The fruit, acid, tannins haven't quite integrated yet, but it's in a fun space now, very enjoyable, dark-fruited, long finish. I'll save half the bottle for tomorrow, when I expect it to really flesh out a bit more

This is drinking very well. Seamless and mouth-filling with some background tannins.
