Some Pinot Noirs of the World: Grassy forest floor, tiny bit of alcohol, very spicy nose with notes of coffee or chocolate, pepper, probably some blueberries and menthol. Very interesting and one can hardly tell that it is from the hot 2003.

Very impressive. The thing that really captivates me is the quality of the tannin, which has a bona fide silkiness to it that usually connotes a fancier address than Beaune 1er cru. The fruit is nice and balanced with no sign of hot-vintage excesses whatsoever.
