  Northern Rhône (Noizé): Ready to drink but still a life ahead of it. White pepper, good acid. On the palate there's black olive, rocks, stone, some oil tones - this is proper stuff. An evening where you got to contemplate a few glasses of this would be a good one...but this was only the opener.

  Pearl of Burgundy gala dinner: A treat to have tried such an old Gonon. Everything was seamlessly integrated here as the brash blue fruit and savoury notes of younger vintages had mellowed. A wine to contemplate, a shame that I didn’t have a chance to follow this wine since I only got a tasting portion.

  Très jeune, j'aurais dû le carafer. Vu ce que sentent les fonds de verre deux heures après l'ouverture, il aurait été bien supérieur encore. Un grand St Jo ce soir, jeune donc, sur un fruit presque primaire, très ouvert, presque baroque, avec une densité remarquable. C'est très très bon, et très facile à boire. Une belle bouteille bue avec les cousins en hommage à celui qui l'avait achetée. 2007 est un sacré millésime en rhône nord, quoi qu'on en dise.
