Deep crimson in color. Dark blue and deep red fruits waft from the glass. Followed by dark cherries, with some allspice. Typical great Napa Cab! Group said it was the best Dunn Napa they had tasted. Drinking perfectly now.

Moderately aggressive decant. Brambles, wild blackcurrant vie with earth, meaty and oxidised notes (caramel and bruised apple) on the nose with sweet spices, a little boot polish and slight alcohol prickle in support. On the palate it's juicy, savoury, fresh acid, fruit profile as per palate, powdery tannins. Alcohol lends warmth on the finish. As per earlier tastings it feels a little flat. I think I got to this a little late: it has really fallen off the cliff for me in the last year...

From a magnum. One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Significant sediment in both the screen and the bottle. Muted aromas of black currant and lead pencil during decant. Wine was clear; uniform dark crimson from bowl to rim with a medium halo. After resting, quartz notes joined the party in the nose. In the mouth: older-styled Napa Cabernet with good structure (tannins had softened but were not yet gone) and tremendous balance. Medium-long finish of restrained black fruit and lead pencil. I brought this wine to celebrate the holidays with some of my "wine friends" and it did not disappoint them or the staff with whom we shared. Wish I had another!

three of the 6 bottles I had left from the original case were bad. I knew there was trouble when the cork broke off 1/4 of an inch from the bottom. Both were bad. The other two were excellent however.

Wine party at Normanton. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl 1855.
Soy sauce dominant on nose and palate. Heat damaged.
