  While Antinori does an exceptional job, I believe this was a bottle I slept on for just a tad too long.
  
  Still getting notes of red cherry, raspberry, cedar, clove, vanilla, balsamic, and forest floor. The flavors, however, haven't really developed much, and what is detectable as tertiary is really more just dried notes, indicating this bottle is slightly past its prime.

  Granatrot mit schimmerndem Rubinkern. Intensiv in der Nase mit Aromen von roter Pflaume, Cassis, Holunder- und Brombeerkonfitüre, Caramel, Tabak, Nelke, Zedernholz, Bitterschokolade sowie ersten Reifenoten erinnernd an Leder. Ausgewogen und harmonisch mit wunderbar eingewobener Säure, samtigen Tanninen, verführerischem und erfrischendem Fruchtextrakt sowie langem, fruchtigem und leicht haftendem Nachhall. Der Wein verdient ein Bordeaux Rotweinglas sowie kühle Raumtemperatur, 15-17°C.
  
  Dank seiner Frucht passt dieser Toskaner wunderbar zu sommerlichen Grilladen, Pasta mit würziger Tomatensauce, Lasagna al Forno sowie kalten Fleischplatten. Seine würzigen Noten machen den Wein zum idealen Begleiter zum Sonntagsbraten mit Kartoffelstock, Rehrücken oder leichten Wildgerichten allgemein.
  
  Villa Antinori wurde erstmals im Jahre 1928 von Marchese Niccholò Antinori, Pieros Vater, gekeltert. Der Name Villa sowie das Etikett mit derjenigen gezeichnet sollen die Familienwerte sowie die Verbundenheit zur Toskana und deren Terroir symbolisieren. Piero Antinori hat nach der Übernahme des Familienunternehmens den Weinstil neu geprägt, indem er die einheimische Sangiovese mit Cabernet Sauvignon und Petit Verdot verschnitt und einen Supertoskaner kreierte. Aufgrund dieser Assemblage muss der Wein jedoch als IGT klassiert werden. Die Trauben reifen im Norden des Chianti Classico Gebietes und werden nach der Lese entrappt, gequetscht und in temperaturgesteuerten Edelstahltanks bei 25 bis 28°C vergoren. Dies ermöglicht eine hohe Farbextraktion aus den Schalen, aber entsprechend auch viel Tannin. Um Letzteres zu mildern wird der Jungwein nach dem biologischen Säureabbau während rund einem Jahr in Eichenfässern aus französischer, amerikanischer und ungarischer Eiche ausgebaut.
