Enjoyably similar to my last note, and a much better wine than the 'standard' 2015 Au Bon Climat Chardonnay drunk recently (see separate note and 87 score).

Drank in part in memory of Jim Clenenden who we had the pleasure of meeting at a tremendous tasting at the George of Stamford in early March 2020 just before the first covid lockdown. As others have said this is really in an excellent place - great value too. A fitting tribute.

Light golden in colour. Nose is quite closed but after some coaxing one can pick out yellow grapefruit, lemons, honeysuckle and a hint of v well integrated oak. Medium bodied with a very fine and ever so slightly viscous mouthfeel. Remaining very dry yet deliciously yellow fruited with some salinity, perfectly pitched acidity and excellent balance. Really impressed and a bargain from the list. From Zalto Montrachet.

Pale lemon colour.
Pronounced on the nose with ripe apple, lime, peach, pineapple, cheese and vanilla.
Pronounced on the palate with creaminess more pineapple coming through. High acidity, full body, high alcohol, long finish.
Interesting, enjoyable wine with great balance, length, intensity and complexity.

Pleasant but not overwhelming oak. Citrus with a hint of stone fruit
