If I had tasted this blind I would have guessed this was a Bâtard-Montrachet. There is an unbelievable amount of precision and power coming out of this offering from Yves Boyer-Martenot - a producer I was yet to try in Meursault, but will be running back to try another bottle from very quickly. The nose was scintillating, reminiscent of a 1996 Bâtard-Montrachet I had tried from Louis Jadot a couple of weeks prior, boasting scents of butter popcorn, light spice, nuttiness and honeysuckle. The palate starred, showing off lots of power in the upfront through notes of ripe red apples, cream and lemon peel. The mid-palate possessed great weight, balancing notes of toasted oak and light honey before the finish brought in hints of tropical fruits and oiliness that I'm typically accustomed to tasting in Montrachet more than Meursault. Drunk over two hours, this is a superstar a decade into its life.

Another strong showing for this wine. Over-delivers with grand cru weight and a buoyant, lively frame — at peak with no hints of pre-mature oxidation that can hinder this domaine.

White Burgundy study (2008 and 2014) (Chicago, IL): I admit a bit of wariness with this producer given some hearsay evidence on a poor premox record. So maybe I'm wrong, or maybe we got lucky tonight, or both, or neither. This doesn't have any reduction on the nose, but there are some ripe yellow pineapple notes. Fairly neutral, this is in a well-executed middle-of-the-road style. Good balance; nothing about this wine sticks out, but it also lacks a bit of excitement.

Perrieres Tasting (Chez Winefool): Attractive nose with toasty, sweet orchard fruit and florals. A nice combination of power and brightness with just a touch of Meursault nuttiness. Only solid and doesn't improve with time in the glass.

Perrières Tasting: Mostly Meursault Whites, plus Méo-Camuzet Reds (The Winefool - Chicago IL): Ripe orchard fruit coming across as fully mature, surprisingly advanced vs last bottle tasted earlier this year. Still good weight, but this gradually lost steam over the 30+ minutes in glass.
