I really liked this. I had it in the middle of a pretty extensive meal so no detailed notes. I remember it being quite floral, blue fruited. Medium bodied. Minimal tannins. It was pretty good!

The 2017 Beaux Frères Abbott Claim has elements of a well-made wine—supple texture, pure red fruit and spice flavors, balanced acids and oak, a reasonably long finish—it just isn't for anybody who is even moderately sensitive to carbonic effects. They don't always bother me, but in this case, the use of whole cluster winemaking dominated every part of the drinking experience. The otherwise pleasant aromas were blanketed with a chemical, candied note, and the juice had a slightly biting, almost carbonated feel on the lips and tongue. If you're less sensitive to those things, by all means drink with a short decant over the next 3 years. Otherwise, avoid.

Willamette Valley May 2019; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019: Pretty nice way to start! Tobacco, spice, cherries on the nose. Spice forward on the palate, esp. allsprice. Just beautiful. From Ken Wright grapes.
