Cristal and Fontodi Flaccianello plus Riverain and Schrader (served blind) (Foretti's in Corona Del Mar): Served blind. With the density and color of the wine, as well as how polished it was drinking, it made me think of 2012. I've had that vintage several times so it seemed like the right guess. Aromatics of black olive and some dried purple flower. Shows plush, and this tells me the wine is hitting the apex of its drink window, too. A touch tarry, with rosemary and dark fruit. Drinking great right now.

Wow, great wine. PnP, and obviously should have decanted, as it was super tight when I took the first sip—it was very funky with a bit of a metallic taste. But that blew off during the first glass, and what was underneath was delicious and complex. Would have thought this was northern Rhone over CA all day—olives, red meat, and maybe lavender? Very savory, but there was blue fruit in there, too. Pretty concentrated, but just enough acid to keep it from being too heavy. I loved it, and am sad I didn’t buy more—on top of everything, this is a great value...I would have thought it was 2x the price.

Amazing Syrah! So rich and mouthcoating...deep garnet color, with blackberry, fig, tobacco and pepper, ending with a dark chocolate mocha. Paired it with sushi, which didn't work the best, but it was mostly gone by the time we got around to eating. Excellent juice. Drink now - 2030.

Beautiful wine. Deep dark purple. Dark plum fruit, black olive distinctly. Some headliner earthy elements. Powerful plenty of time to go with this one
