Softened with a bit of age this is pretty typical of Barossa wine at a low to midrange price range. Salty, rich and a fair whack of added acid that is still ready to tear at your mouth on the back end. Very long. Fucked if I know why I bought this.

Nose of compost, pencil lead, plum, and sour cherry. Slick, velvety mouthfeel, with fine tannin and sharp acidity. Flavours of damp forest floor, black fungus, and prune: earth notes dominate fruit notes. Super-savoury, earthy, and delicious.

Clumsy, hard going and bloated. It seems to only just miss the mark but miss it has. Many like this style and will forgive the jammy fruit and heady feel, and perhaps in time it might get slightly better. Headache material here.

{screwcap, 14.5%} Big and jubey, with jammy blackberry fruit, loose-knit medium dusty tannins and some artificial-tasting acidity. Medium/full-bodied, with jubey, vanilla and chocolate flavours. OK effort with a warm, medium-length finish, could easily do another 5 years in the cellar to knit it together.

Still a baby. Classic with good tannins and balance.
