Deep ruby color. Notes of plum, blackberry, mushroom, baking spice, clay pot and vanilla. Young, dense and earthy blend of (mostly) merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec from Lussac-St. Émilion. Satin texture, supple and medium-full bodied, dark fruit, minerality and spice on the palate, framed by chalky tannins.

Obvious merlot in the nose and flavors. Little, if any, incidence of oak. A serviceable, straightforward Lussac. As with all 2016 Bordeaux, time will improve the wine.

Tight on day one. Quite nice in day two. Great $20 everyday drinker.
