The golden colour says it all - a worked style- but the bright aspect says not a flat or overblown one.
The nose is caramel, butterscotch, a bit of a whiff of Satan (struck match). Fruit? Apparently relegated to the bleachers to watch on.
The palate is similar, there is a lively, fresh finish and if you dig about you might come up with some peach fruit.
Frankly, I hate this style, but if it is your thing who am I to argue? It is certainly well made and you can't complain about being overcharged. With time I suspect the peachy fruit will come through and then you might have something. What would you eat with it? Creamy cheese, perhaps, or snapper or the like.
It reminds me a bit of Oasis (the band). You know there are some good things, but you can't really feel it like everyone else does. Well, don't look back in anger...

Friday at the strand (Strand Cellars, Croydon): Struck match and citrus, polished oak, a little butter. A little lemon, slight lime, fleshy and fresh but not overtly acidic, very slight bitterness on the finish but overall pretty good.

Mersault style. Sort of red Rioja version of Chardonnay (unlike white Rioja). Sorry to be confusing, what I mean is that there is a lot of oak (French) in a dry not buttery style.
Good acidity.
Drink now, 3+ years.
13%, screwcap.

Delightful bouquet, typical of Church Road style. Ripe grapefruit palette with toasted nut notes and a creamy texture. Nice balanced acidity and excellent length. Great value wine that will continue to develop.

Colour: Silver gold
Nose: Struck match, toast
Palette: Nectarine, lemon, longish acidic finish.
So so wine without much complexity.
Not overly impressed.
