92-93 fully mature Bordeaux, nose had some dusty library/cellar funk that took a minute to blow off but when it did showed leather, savory notes, tobacco, fairly classic nose. Palate had fully resolved tannin, nice acidity and medium persistence/length. Solid showing tonight. 90s are consistently one of my favorite vintages for Bordeaux.

Typical old school nose - mushrooms, wet earth, wood and tobacco. Palate was disappointing an d the end was very short. Not a good vintage for the comtesse! 88-89

Blind. Nose has sliced mushrooms and glossy dark fruit on pouring. Meaty and profound. Some smoky blueberries emerge, so complete. Savoury, long, more-ish, poised. The faintest hint of grated chocolate after an hour. Outstanding.
