  • PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
    -dark red purple minimal bricking
-warm earth dark cherry fruit, slight meaty/savory component
-med acidity, slightly faded simple dark fruit with a streak of mildly rustic tannins and gentle oak
-pleasant, probably as good as it's going to get right now but no hurry

  • Lightly spicy red fruit, medium bodied. Juicy, easy to like Pinot. No reason to wait.

  • In the mid-70's my then girlfriend (now wife) brought a bottle of Alexis Lichine Chassagne Montrachet rouge back to college from her home in NYC. It was a gift from her Mom (thanks, Pat). That humble village Burgundy was an epiphany wine for me. Ever since, it is hard for me to pass up a Chassagne Montrachet rouge when I see one. I'm very glad I bought this bottle, made by Domaine Marc Morey. With some time to open up, it is a lovely example. Dark, clear ruby. Nose of smoke, black cherry, spice, and cola. Round, ripe medium palate of black cherry, plum, cola, spice, and vanilla. Excellent length. Energetic, food-friendly acidity. After some sips, I could almost imagine it came from Oregon (sorry France, but that is a compliment). At $39.99, it is decent QPR for Burgundy. I plan to buy some more.
