Second bottle is much bigger and more complex with loads of sweet apricot fruit, flint and minerality but underscored by acidity, giving a required balance, amazing right now but given the way this has developed in the last five years, who knows how much longer it can go

A study in apple…toffee apple, tarte tatin, and cooking apples poaching in sweet wine with a stick of cinnamon. It is rich and honeyed with a touch of custard and great depth and richness that is beautifully tempered by the acidity of a crisp granny Smith.

EWG goes blind for Syrah (Elements Kitchen, Pasadena,Ca): Fat pie like nose. Clean and tart palate. There is a strong waxy note on the nose and palate.

Focused, medium gold, nice nose of lemon, orange peel and a general mealliness, not as big or complex as the 1990 but still a very flavorful wine
