Memory of having drunk this wine 10 years ago. Power was the qualifier in 2013 when I drank it.
Today, it’s something completely different, the wine has changed. Effervescence still very present and fine.
Nose of orange, honey, candied almonds and caramel.
The mouth is now much softer. It’s delicate and full of nuance, with a structured juice that reveals itself in layers. First we have the delicate jasmine, then we arrive at the candied aromas, where orange mixes with almonds. The texture is concentrated, it’s caramelized, but also syrupy and airy at the same time. Beautiful acidity that loosens a deep and blossoming whole. The wine unfolds with a smooth side. Obviously the dosage is perceptible given current standards but it is harmonious. Beautiful finish, which here also achieves the alliance between the caramelized intensity of tertiary aromas and an impressive airy and floral length.
Great Champagne.

[Blind] Sweet, dessert-like, dark chocolates and caramel, orange zest. Distinctive and sort of in its own category given the dosage and unctuous sweetness.

a very good wine. Butterscotch, honey, with some candied almond. Tis had life left but will only decline from here. This would have been dead on about 4-5 years ago, overall still a great champagne and a treat to taste

(Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut) From a double magnum: Yeasty nose with nutty flavors—almond, hazelnut—and sweet citrus notes; rich, remarkably concentrated champagne, with a mid-palate of lemon meringue, hazelnut, apricot and tangerine; great depth of flavor and a very long finish. Fortunately the huge bottle contained enough of the wonderful stuff that I was able to enjoy a few glasses, allowing me to thoroughly confirm my first impressions. 98+ pts.
